Sightseeing
Circular Quay
No trip to Sydney is complete without visiting Circular Quay. From Circular Quay you can visit the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge and the Botanical Gardens.
The Rocks
A short walk from Circular Quay is The Rocks which was Sydney's first settlement. The Rocks has many good pubs and restaurants and an arts and crafts market every Saturday and Sunday.
Taronga Zoo
Taronga Zoo has a wide collection of animals and some of the best views in Sydney. The easiest way to get there is to catch a ferry from Circular Quay.
Darling Harbour
Darling Habour is the old port area of Sydney. There are a number of cafes and restaurants as well as attractions such as the Sydney Aquarium, Maritime Museum, Powerhouse Museum, which has a large collection of interactive exhibits and also the new Sydney Wildlife World which has a large collection of Australian animals.
Darling Harbour is within walking distance of the College.
Beaches
Sydney is famous for its beaches and they are easy to get to from the College.
Bondi Beach
To go to Bondi Beach you can take a 333 bus from Liverpool Street or catch a train to Bondi Junction (a large shopping centre) from platform 24 at Central Station and then get a 380, 381 or 389 to Bondi Beach.
Manly
Go to Circular Quay by bus or train where you can catch a ferry to Manly.
Coogee
Go to Central Station and catch a 372 or 374 bus to Coogee. The journey takes around 30 minutes.
Shopping
There are many places to go shopping in Sydney. Pitt Street Mall is located near Town Hall station and you will find most of Australia's leading outlets here. The QVB is also close to the station and has a large number of stores ranging from the inexpensive to designer brands.
Close to our college you will find Chinatown and Paddy's Markets. Paddy's Markets is a large undercover market with a variety of goods on sale including clothing, fruit and vegetables, sunglasses, jewellery, shoes, luggage, etc. World Square Shopping Centre is also located a two minute walk from our campus and has a number of restaurants, retail shops, a supermarket and other conveniences such as dry cleaners, newsagents, travel agents, etc.
Parks and Gardens
Sydney has a number of beautiful parks and gardens. The Botanical Gardens wrap around Sydney Harbour from Mrs Macquarie's Chair to the Opera House and afford beautiful views of both the city and harbour. Hyde Park is only a short walk from Town Hall station and is popular for lunchtime games of touch football and soccer.
The Domain is a park which joins Hyde Park and the Botanical Gardens and is often a venue for musical events and short film festivals, particularly in Summer. Directly opposite our campus, Belmore Park is a popular place for people to relax in the sun or have their lunch.
